    I would say half an hour at the most — unless the grocery has a deli.

    Frozen Food Section! Complete dinners! Easy, fast and more than your daily requirement of fat and salt. Just as bad as Pizza without the guilt.

    @2old, but not really!

    Our locel grocery’s frozen food section is weird, no Texmex dinners. Huge boxes of burritos, tacos, etc; but no complete dinners.

    Panel #2. I once had to name every single vegetable I purchased to the kid running the cash register. That’s a cauliflower, those are radishes, these are cucumbers. He was quite pleased with himself when he identified potatoes all by himself. “That’s what they use to make French Fries, right?”

    @Dani Rice

    Yeah, I had that happen to me with a cucumber and some brussels sprouts once. I tried to recommend the sprouts to the cashier girl, but she just looked at me like I was insane :-)

    Hilarious. And really, really sad.

    Eggplant is my favorite pizza topping! Serious!

    It had better be something else takeout becasue what she DOESN’T deserve is to come home to have to cleanup a disaster in the kitchen…

    In panel # 2, he’s holding an immature penguin.

    If he only knew, he could easily make Eggplant Parmigiana! Just 2 more basic ingredients to make it the easy way: spaghetti/marinara sauce and provolone cheese.

    Those penguins are so cute!
    I am useless with cooking eggplant. But have found the pre-made on the shelf, nuke in bag or boil in water Indian food. Stewed eggplant with onions, tomatoes, chilies, curry and stuff. Tasty. And no fuss & mess for me.

    That’s an eggplant. Roll it in panko and fry it up. YUM!

    @Adele Derwald

    I’ve never encountered any cashier who was that clueless. If I get asked any questions about vegetables, it’s nearly always about leafy greens. And I can understand that, because at first I had some trouble distinguishing between them myself. But for the rest, it’s rare if ever that they ask me to identify them.
