    Also read Broom Hilda on the reason why kids must go to school. Correction, why kids must learn in school, not “go to school”.

    They fold their hands and stare at you.
    “Teach me”, they say. “I dare you to.”

    Another question is “why do I need to learn that, I’ll never need to use it.”

    The 5 Whys technique – an excellent way to get to the root cause of a problem. I teach this concept in Lean Six Sigma class.

    @Jay_Dallas

    I love these questions. Open ended questions require more than just a yes or no answer.
    .
    I have used this in reverse – being the one answering the questions for a 3-4 year olds. Just giving enough of an answer. Then waiting the couple of minutes or more while the child digested the answer – and then asked the next question. It can be fun. If you have the time.
