Any bets that Alex will eventually get Betty into trouble at work?

I’ve only been reading this comic for 3 months now since the “demise” of The Meaning Of Lila. Someone brief on this
off/on relationship with these two.

Alex is a long time girlfriend that was hired at Betty’s previous job and was the one that fired Betty. Then afterward didn’t call Betty and their relationship is very on the rocks. Betty found a new job and the previous job is hiring them, the owner putting Betty in front since she came from that company.

Alex, Betty’s pold friend, was a new hire at Betty’s job and one of her first assignments was to fire Betty. She did it in a non-sentimental, business-like way so everyone here thinks Alex is an asocial psychopath.

Alex IS an asocial psychopath, but Betty and her were friends long before that reality had an impact on Betty’s career.

So Betty’s friend (or now what passes for a friend) is sort of
mixture of Drew from Lila and Ann Eiffel from LuAnn.
Something tells me she’s no good at all!

Alex of all people should know better than to call Betty while she’s working.

Alex and Betty have been friends since high school. Alex was hired at Betty’s old company specifically to be the person who told people they were being laid off. One of them was Betty. Alex did it in a cold, impersonal way, just like she did for anybody else and Betty was upset by it. Since then, there’s been an “Alex-sized hole” in Betty’s life and it looks like Alex is trying to make amends without actually understanding what she did wrong. (I had a similar experience with a friend, although not so drastic, so I can understand how Betty feels.)

@JoPhan
Let’s hope they can make amends.

Betty got Alex the job in the first place, and Alex turns around and stabs her long time friend in the back. Why would anyone want to make amends with a friend like that?
