OK…publicly finance elections…but only 3 months…no outside interests can buy any time…that would leave plenty of dough to pay workers a living wage.

Yep. And if a person DOESN’T vote, he or she pays a (nominal) fine. Because if We the People don’t vote, and vote in every election, there’s gonna be NO American democracy.
There’ll only be the Fox Rush National Standard Noise — the usual — telling us what, and whom, and how to hate, twenty four seven.

He knows that all he has to do to get a standing ovation is to brag about how many people his state has put to death.

We pay for it. We KNOW we pay for it yet no one gets angry enough to do anything about it. Don’t think the two party’s with allow campaign finance reform? Then we need a third party. A Center focused party that represents us. Not a fringe element.

Did I miss Ben Sargent’s criticisms of President Obama’s far more lavish uses of taxpayer money for social events?

This is rather curious. We complain when a “rich” candidate uses his/her own money to bankroll their campaign and claim that they are trying to “buy” the election. Then we complain when candidates use tax money and/or donor money to bankroll their campaign. Seems contradictory as no candidate can run for practically any political office without trying to “buy” the election in either case.

The root of the anger revolves around requiring large buckets of money to win or even enter the campaign.
The Rich can win, because as the 1% they already have the money. Using our tax money to fund outrageous campaigns is an insult especially when they aren’t really representing us any more. They represent the huge private donors. Resetting how campaigns run, how they are funded and who can fund them is the issue and where we should focus the solution.

There aren’t too many candidates that can “send troops” somewhere to boost their political cache’.
Governor Good Hair needs to write a big ol’ check to the state of Texas, ’cause nobody believes that BS that his actions are non-political.
