    Except for the problem of owning a cat.
    Sorry, more of a dog-person.

    @Gary McSpook

    Actually, the correct terminology is “being owned by a cat”.

    Having been owned by a couple in my life, I concur.

    and @ all the other comments

    A litter tray stinks, too. I clean ours every day, and remove the ‘solids’ as and when they appear, but the house still reeks of ammonia. Cat pee is rank.

    Our cat is 20. She is our third and will be our last, just for this reason.

    (Though I will miss waking up in the night, gasping for breath and thinking I’m having a heart attack, only to find the cat perched on my boobs; and feeling her little nose pressed against mine as she kneads my face – and then lacerates my eyelids; and having her coil sinuously around my feet at the top of the stairs in an attempt to assassinate me. . .

    Oh, no – I hadn’t really thought of it but she’ll die one day and I’m going to miss the furry little murderess (BAWL). Of course, she may succeed in killing me first.

    I think she’ll believe it’s the dog this time.

    “Problem solver” is one way of putting it.
