Barney -- J. Barnard Pillsbury -- is the billionaire founder and CEO of Pillsbury Pharmaceuticals. Barney thinks he has it all: power, wealth, a pampered existence with a statuesque trophy wife – until he meets Clyde Finster, an intelligent, entertaining (and possibly crazy) street person. Clyde's satisfaction with his circumstance surprises and confounds Barney, whose success in life has been hard-fought and won. For Clyde, Barney's acceptance is validation of a life lived without compromise.

The origin is uncertain. It first appears in George Herbert’s “Jacula Prudentum, or outlandish proverbs, sentences, etc”, published 1640 (see Google Books reprint http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=3FACA… ) But that was a collection of proverbs, a mix of traditional ones he collected and ones he wrote himself. However, Herbert first popularized it.

There is a scene in this fan fiction of Dark Shadows where the immortal character Quintin meets an old nemesis again only now the man is old and is shocked to see Quentin the same apparent age. All he can say is “You!”
