    @TEMPLO S.U.D.

    Templo – Rare to see “estadounidense.” It’s one of my favorite words in Spanish. I lived ten years in Latin America and used it a lot. Another favorite – albondiga. Go figure.

    Religion,speech,assembly,thought,association, bear arms.

    We may not perfect but the alternatives seem much less appealing.

    I was kept awake most of the night by idiots who couldn’t wait until tonight to set off their very loud fireworks — RIGHT NEXT TO MY BEDROOM! (Please excuse the bold caps. I’m trying my darnedest to be civil.) So, I’ll be trying to get as much rest as I can today, and if the people next door decide to start ringing bells, I’ll “ring” their necks with those bells!

    Thank you Hector and Carlos for the information. I had completely forgotten, if I ever knew, of this tradition. I will, however, ring a bell a noon (MDT) today.

    “What freedom?” The freedom that millions seek when they jump that border. This influx of people defines my exceptional country.

    Actually shooting a gun straight up is safe. The bullet expends all of its energy going up and is just like a small rock being dropped. Ends up being an ouch but wont kill you. BUT not exactly straight up and it becomes a ballistic arc and will and does kill people.

    At 2:00 p. m. I dingled on an Old-Fashioned-type glass with a heavy spoon. Worked fine.
