    Tru-tru-true. Many years ago I spent a year as a TA (Teacher’s Assistant) in a 3rd grade class. What makes it so memorable is we had a girl just like Gracie. Her co-students, teacher, principal, & I all believed she was a superstar in the making, both in grades & demeanor. Then I got married, got my degree & moved away. Haven’t met another “Gracie” since.

    There’s a Harry S Truman High School in Levittown, Pennsylvania. The kids refer to it as “Hairy @$$ Truman”!

    Would you prefer private schools run by mega-corporations a la “university of Phoenix”?

    My elementary school was pretty good actually – it was really a school. My public middle and high schools were wannabe sports centers staffed by slothful people with entitled attitudes who happened to have teaching certificates.

    @Potrzebie

    I’ve been reading about that. In my opinion they couldn’t do any worse at the middle and high school level if they aren’t sports obsessed. The public schools can then feel the heat of some competition. My middle school principal was a florid-faced drunk with a flask.

    And what schools would there be for the 90% who don’t qualify for such private schools?

    gentes, gentes!! Gracie is expressing the opportunistic way she views education. No levels only doors. By the by, I went to Harry S Truman in NY. Transfered out because of the closed puertas.
