Well, the Socialist experiment continues, apparently. Welcome to the United Socialist States of America… We lost to the moochers again. Enjoy your freebies while they last, idiots…

You don’t like it here? They’ll sell you a ticket to the country of your choice at any travel agency. Or you could try something radical. Like working for the good of the country instead of sitting on the sideline bitchiin’.

Yes, there are lots of countries you could move to where democracy is nonexistent and the rich run things as they wish. You’re fortunate to live where the government is BY the people and FOR the people.

(Actually, that was in agreement with you, walruscarver2000, and directed at DGF999.)

    Rick Perry is a socialist?

The funny thing is that most people couldn’t explain socialism if you gave them the definition. I agree that we live in a country that gives us the privilege to vote for who we think is the best.

It also give us the right to choose whether we care about our fellow Americans or just lining the pockets of the very rich.

The people of America have voted and they chose to care, that is why I am proud to be an American.

yes, the people of America would prefer to unline the pockets of the very rich if it would benefit them.
Read an interesting article in TIME while waiting at the doctor’s this morning. (from Sept 17) “One Nation Subsidized”.

While I agree that there are people who don’t deserve to be rich the slightest (The Situation, Nicole RIchie, 95% percent of celebrities in existence), the others fully understand that are understand that America is the land of opportunity and put a lot of toil and sweat into becoming rich (and even maintaining to be rich), so they deserve that spot.

That’s why I don’t believe in Communism. I was once a bit of a rebel back then but now I’m in college, plan to nail a career and eventually become successful. Communism implies that I’m as equal as a total dolt wearing a tin foil hat. Unfortunately, a hierarchy does deserve to exist, even though we aren’t always in the proper order all the time.

Sadly FlyGuy, many who are “rich” got that way by taking advantage of others and exploiting opportunities in ways that did not contribute to making anythign better, only them richer. Sure altruism is a novel idea, but is it not what we should all aspire to, great wealth from the benefit of others, not great wealth at the expense of others? Willard Mitt Romney is the poster child for amassing great wealth from the suffering and oppression of the less privileged. And to think otherwise is a reflection of your priorities and moral compass.

I’m curious you claim 95% of celebrities don’t deserve to be wealthy. Which 95%? Which 5% do deserve to be wealthy? Celebs like Clint Eastwood, Kid Rock and Mike Rowe? Like I said, priorities and moral compass.

Trusted Mechanic: You left out the primary way to riches – inheritance. Like Jim Hightower said, “They were born on third base and thought they hit a triple.”

And as they used to say, before both parties got to insulating those who inherited wealth from having to work to keep it, “From shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations”.
