Nothing cures insomnia like the realization that it's time to get up.
Once at about 4:55 am, when I hadn’t got any sleep up to then, I set my alarm clock to 5:00 am. Worked perfectly. I fell asleep 5:01 am.
(Alas, it only worked only once.)
