    He’d probably umpire second base.

    @Dr McCoy

    Actually, MLB umpires rotate base assignments. That’s why you hear Jim Joyce (who otherwise is a really-nice guy) yelling “STRIKE-EEEEE!” – and it sounds like nails on a chalkboard.

    I, too, would have made a great umpire, except I don’t have the thick skin that it requires.

    I would have made a lousy umpire because I never developed any interest in baseball

    Note to cat haters: I really don’t care for baseball, but I will NOT be complaining when this message board fills up with baseball comments today, perhaps the same level of maturity can be returned the next time there is a cat comic

    Cats wouldn’t make good umpires either.

    As I was taught 40 years ago by my father, “Whether the umpire makes the right call or not, the umpire is always right.”

    @AshburnStadium

    James Joyce is an umpire now? Guess the writing gig didn’t work for him in the end! ;-b

    I actually have negative interest in baseball. I would have to find out something really interesting about it to bring my interest level up to apathy.

    But they would be aloof and not be partial to either side.
