I like how it all made sense in its own way. Like when they were going to go to Washington DC, everybody told them to be sure to see the Eiffel Tower. At the end, they check into their hotel, Oliver looks out the window, and there it is, the Eiffel Tower.

Hey, it was a great show.
She’s intense? Maybe it’s time to go camping. The fun can be in tents….

Great, now I have the theme song running through my head :P. Arnold the pig was the best thing in that show. Quick, what character was on Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies and Petticoat Junction?

Kate Bradley I think her name was, (Bea Benadaret) was on all three. Great show, had a second level of humor that was very dry. When Lisa and Oliver were trapped in their basement due to a cave in, Oliver said “We will just have to dig our way out now.” Lisa replied, “That is what you always say!”……

makes you wonder if Mary Lou has always been like this or become so recently? in earlier incarnations she seemed more fun loving i have one piece of advice for Gene. stay away from intense humorless people, far away. to heck with her if she can’t take a joke. Gene can do better than her if it comes to that. ask Uncle Joe or Mr. Haney.

Welcome to the first year (or two, or three … ) of married life, Gene. We had so many flare-ups and misunderstandings, it’s not even funny. But we’d decided at the outset that this was forever, so we stuck it out, worked at it, and now we’re rediscovering love the way it was when we were courting — except better, and with no holds barred! You’ve got to go into it knowing there are going to be major ups and downs, and be okay with that.

I’m pretty sure Sam Drucker appeared in all 3 — he visited the Clampetts in Beverly Hills, and was a regular on the other 2 shows. And I believe the Clampetts visited Hooterville more than once.

There has to be more to this situation than Gene calling their future farm “Green Acres” to ease his fiance’s tension.

Women always SAY they want a guy with a sense of humor, but it only takes a couple of dates for that to turn into “Why can’t you be serious?” (this, in situations which are not particularly serious). You learn to adjust, crank it down, and watch for danger signals.

Mary Lou has lived “that life” forever; she’s seen her parents toiling away her entire life. The resort is the lifeblood of her family, and she knows no other way. It’s ingrained in her that that comes first and must be maintained above all else. While Gene means well, his casual remarks about relaxing, going away, not working “24/7” makes her question his dedication to the whole “resort as lifeblood” plan. What he should do is go talk to her father about this…..

I met Mr. Haney (Pat Butram) once. Ran into him walking down Radisson Mall in Charlotte. He was in town for an appearance at a plumbing convention. He was all alone, poor guy, and just killing time, wandering around. Now I wish I had had the time to hang out with him. Or at least gotten his autograph.

Time for Gene to put his foot down. She needs to adjust towards him too….He doesn’t have to be intense, just because she is…..She needs to back off…..
