The red haired girl will be a most fortunate human sacrifice, nbut we must marinate her to remove the excess ginger before we feast on her flesh.

There has never been a documented case of outright cannibalism. Just rumors and embellished stories.

Ritual cannibalism is another matter. There have been cases of victors eating a small amount of a vanquished foe. Feasting on humans for the sake of eating human flesh, however, is unknown.

On looking up cannibalism, for the most part I concur with your statement. The only well-documented instance I could find of the practice that wasn’t either in extreme starvation circumstances (such as the Donner party) or a very sick individual (such as Jeffrey Dahmer) was the Japanese army during WWII, especially in New Guinea. There was a tribunal held in Australia where evidence and eye-witness testimony made it clear that the soldiers killed and ate their prisoners pretty much on a daily basis. At least 5 men were executed for war crimes because of this practice.

Annie has spent time with Mr Am, whoever he really is (not to mention, but I will, Mr Was as well). She has a great destiny which I cannot divulge lest I be smitten from above…

The Uncomfortably Common Practice of Medicinal Cannibalism

    _ Importing mummies
The practice of medicinal cannibalism (also called iatric cannibalism) is a bizarre belief from early European culture. The belief held that the consumption of mummified bodies, or other parts of the deceased, cured ailments in the living.

Medicinal cannibalism became a part of mainstream medicine, with 18th Century English physician Robert James’s Pharmacopoeia Universalis citing that the flesh of a mummy resolves blood clots, coughs, menstrual problems, and speeds the healing of wounds.
