What is this “our kind, their kind” horsepucky? Thinking like that is what causes war to go on forever.

I guess it is “their kind” i.e. BAD, “our kind”, the good guys.
The good and bad “horsepucky” depends on which side you are standing.

How can you take off, not knowing where you are going? I can see doing that on a car trip, but not a plane. You have to file a flight plan, don’t you? This was in 2002. I think most would have agreed on which side was good and which was bad, but as the war waged on, some may have come to see it differently.

I remember Sulu asking Captain Kirk which heading to guide the ship and Captain Kirk telling Sulu to “Go that way” at the end of one adventure.
Anybody remember which episode?

jmcx4 & susanwobb: No! The difference between those who want to kill everyone that disagrees with them (religiously or politically) and those who merely want to be left alone to lawfully and peacefully live their lives is an unbridgeable gulf. War IS the normal state of humanity and will be as long as anyone tries to wipe out the “unbelievers” or those who dare to disagree with them.

It is Manicheasm. Reducing the world to Good and Evil, Light and Dark etc. Rather like how our National Security state works in the real world.

Yes but I can’t yet recall which episode. I know that Kirk said it in one of the movies. Maybe the very first one which I liked.

The USA has spread more war than anyone else so far. The New American Century is here after all.

I’m glad you’re here. Sometimes I feel all alone in the world.

At the end of THE MOTION PICTURE, Kirk sets the Enterprise’s course as “Out there… thataway!”
