    Nice day, isn’t it?

It may not be so nice for Karstein, since Keltner browbeats over the ransom.

Not even a consideration of alerting the police? This is kind of their gig.

The note says not to alert the cops or the Feds.

    Morning, Oopsters.
I’m not a lawyer, you understand, but I think these two could actually be held liable for not alerting the police. Obstruction of justice or something.

Like I said very predictable in what they do. Not totally but close to it.

So I guess the star has been kidnapped and Bernie doesn’t want to pay the ransom huh? It’s so hard to keep up. Hopefully the Benders will find a way to repeat it again tomorrow:)

    Have a great day everyone:)

Let Ooola finish the film and let Oop find the star and kidnappers.
We’ve been a week now discussing a Ransom note. How many ways can you say “We want 50,000 buckaroos1”
“Want it all you want, I aint paying it!”
This story should have moved on by wednesday at the latest.
    Dang! I hate to gripe!

Good Morning Benders, John Wooley, and readers of Alley
Oop. The ransom scam continues to try shaking down
Bernie for $50,000. If another ransom note appears asking $40,000 he will be justified. The fact that the shooting is only half done and the film is already way over budget leads credence to a inside job. Bring in thew FBI secretly to bring down the scammers.

    well….
this ridiculous and clumsy plot device of a conversation continues ad nauseum.
Keltner should know there are no guarantees in the movie biz, especially when your star is kidnapped. it didn’t take long for this arc to descend into lame and predictable nonsense.

It takes about one minute to read aloud all the strips, since Joe and Bernie entered Bernie’s office. The problem isn’t the pacing of this story — but, it’s possible that the problem is a lack of imagination on your part.
    -
These strips are like the storyboard for a movie. Try imagining what the characters would sound and act like in a movie comedy made in that era (early 1940’s). For example, picture Joe and Bernie as Abbot and Costello. Now, imagine them acting out their parts — complete with manic body language, and comedic voices. You may find that it’s actually very fast paced, and hilarious. But, that would mean suspending judgment for a moment, and using your imagination.
