Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 14 “Dark Trail of Doom”(36) 7/17/12

Doctor Dark’s teams are assaulting Ft. Mitchum in the USA to get the Erikon tube that will finish the device for the Vampires. Alley Oop and company are racing to protect the vault that houses that particular device so precious to Dr. Dark to resort to terrorism on American soil.

    Panel One

About a third of the remaining spy cameras of Dr. Dark have been sending out counter frequency modulations that jam the military ground and wireless transmissions and civilian cell phone communications. The base is now in a black out zone. Any hard lines have been severed by those metallic insects that located them and had been keeping the lines open until now. Modifying any transmissions as necessary. In fact they are telling any and all that things are quiet and routine and will do so until the all clear is sent or simply destroy the link they have when their job is done.

    Panel Two

The Imperial Mammoth is back as are several velociraptors brought back from the eons dead to make mayhem today plus some new recruits. Soldiers, MRAPs and Bradley Fighting Vehicles armed with either Gatlings or .50 cals blasting away at them until they are hit with orange-red plasmas that carbonize the soldiers and melt their vehicles. Some of their ammunition is cooked off too adding to the action and confusion. Very few casualties among the resurrected invaders. (Some cut in two but still functioning.)

    Panel Three

The vault is near the center of the base where layers of forces are set up but more are being drawn off as the casualties mount and radio contact (short range) is lost with the outer defenders.Good thing that Chet, Oscar, Alley and the others worked out in skull sessions how to make it very hard for Dr. Dark’s people to get away with it this time. Chet’s secret is about to be unveiled.

    Panel Four

Dr. Dark is certainly smart enough to build all that was stolen but he is in a hurry and constructing it himself would just take too long. (He has a contract to build more such repulsar cannon instillations in the future for the Vampires and anyone else who will pay the right price. Even the USA.)

You should print it out and draw backgrounds, since it seems to be so important to you.

Ever look up the way Mayans depicted themselves?

The language thing is a bogus argument. Cartoonists have ignored this “problem” for literally generations.

Languge problem: the Universal Translator a la Star Trek. Not sure where they hide them, though?

The whole translation problem is too cumbersome for most media so it is ignored. If you were writing such a story for a comic strip you would dispose of it quickly. In longer more dense medium one can get around it or address it. But it is a wasted argument.

The Benders must have had other plans for the day that they spent a few minutes on today’s strip. I agree with @davidf42, some back ground would take very little additional effort. I see it as lack of pride in ownership by the Benders.
