T.Tops looks friendly to me. Maybe it is Hamid’s guilty conscience which caused him to panic and run? It is definitely time for Alley, Oola, Lola and Guz to ask Hamid to answer a few more questions about this mythical kingdom he wants to hustle “Oola” off to!

It’s gotta be Dinny’s friend that Alley asked him to get to help carry everyone.

I wonder if Muhammed (blessings, etc.) went back in time to preach in Mondovia?

Hamid could have used a red cape and a sabre maybe… seeing as how they can make a knife, a long blade shouldn’t be too difficult….

It’s slowly and ponderously proceeding to that state called “It’s so bad that it’s good.”

Or was that a State of Confusion?

I think some people read this strip just so they complain about something. They secretly enjoy it or else why would they read it?

I believe the proposed taxonomy by Scannella and Horner, that suggested torosaurus as a mature stage of triceratops, has been challenged by recent work by Longrich and Field, and separately by Farke. So the current research would tend to put torosaurus back as it’s own genus of certopsians. That conclusion might yet change – no immature specimens of torosaurus have yet been found, which is part of how the triceratops-torosaurus synonymy hypothesis got started – but then there aren’t a lot of adult examples either.

My understanding from what I read about the beginnings of Alley Oop is that Victor T. Hamlin, the original author of the Oop strips, was working for an oil company which was drilling in Texas. While they were digging for oil, they ran into a massive graveyard of dinosaur bones. Unfortunately, in those days, people were more eager to get at the oil than they were in preserving the dinosaur bones. Quite possibly, the mystery of T.Tops COULD have been solved by some of the dinosaur bones which the oil company disregarded back in the 20s and 30s. We used to live in New Mexico, not far from Silver City, which was only a hop and a skip from the U.S. border with Mexico. When we went out for walks, we frequently found SEA SHELLS just lying out there, in the desert. So, at one point in history, that entire area was actually under water! Not far from where I grew up – in Nebraska – a farmer discovered the bones of a wooly mammoth. In fact, the Wooly Mammoth has been adopted as Nebraska’s state fossil because fossils of the Wooly Mammoth have been discovered in nearly every county in Nebraska. The Mastadon is the official fossil of Michigan. In New Mexico, the official state fossil is the Coelophysis. Triceratops were found mostly in South Dakota. Where I currently live – in Colorado – the predominate fossil is the Stegosaurus, although fossil remains of the Stegosaurus have been discovered as far away as in Europe. Still looks to me like Hamid ran away from T.Tops because he had a guilty conscience! A question which Alley, Oola and Lola should be asking is why would Hamid panic at the sight of T.Tops since, according to Hamid’s story, Hamid had just made a very LONG journey from his home kingdom to Moo. Surely, at SOME point during that “long” journey, Hamid met up with many different dinosaurs.
