    A dinny for your thoughts? Again I bring up how did he do it all on foot? No packs of supplies, no one else with him to help fight off the deadly wild beasts. Fodder for more behind the scenes “fiction” I’d say.

    Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 14 “The League”(1) 6/16/12

    Panel One

    With an alert of suspicious activity in Thailand near Angkor Wat they then made preparations to go. Their C-17-D was even going to be fitted with fuel pods, external tanks, so that they could fly most of the way there without refueling.
    Alley was now anxious to get started. He is a prehistoric man with a mission. However somethings aren’t planned for nor expected. Alley Oop was to find that there is more in this world than even he knew.

    Alley, his ax in hand, was ready to confront Dr. Dark and any of his minions when there was a flash and a sound like thunder and he was gone! “What the hell!” They all said or thought along with shocked gasps. Dr. Dark’s machinations? But no it was something else, a force that has been operating up and down the time line only recently.

    Alley Oop felt like he was spinning in two directions at once but before he could feel anymore he stopped his dizzying transit. In a spacious, mostly unadorned circular room of a smooth warm gray. He was at ground level and above him in rows he saw people and some strange animals. The
    light on him was bright but not harsh. “Welcome to the League of Super Heroes Alley Oop!” The voiced boomed from the more ornamental dais crowned with an eye in a sunburst. Then the figure spread two white bird wings from his back and swooped down to Alley.“Why did you take me away?” Alley asked the muscular winged man in mostly orange form fitting body suit with his features hidden by a mask. “I am Birdman, this is Avenger my super eagle.” The eagle was a brilliant purple-blue in color, wore the same Egyptian style flat necklace as Birdman but was also at least twice the sized of any eagle except the ones that can be ridden in Alley’s own time.“Why me?” Alley asked. “We use an advanced solar matrix computer to transport us from time and place to fight evil. It seems you were put on the list.”

    Panel Two

    “We have banded together from our own respective times with Mightor and Tog from near your own time to the Galaxy Trio, Space Ghost and the Herculoids of the far future to work together in times of crisis to stop evil in its tracks,” he began. “We programmed it too well. It also is seeking out heroes as well to be brought here or to the place we need to be. However, there is a time limitation so there are substitutions made. Our base is situated in a null-void continuum between the space-time-vug plenum. No limitations here on that.”

    Alley Oop admired the heavy club Mightor carried though strangely the rounded end was sliced off leaving it flat. His partner Tog is a blue “dragon” and has bat-like wings. He has never seen one close up before.

    Panel Three

    “I need to get back now.” Alley emphasized. “Yes we know, but you are critical here for what you are needed for or Solana wouldn’t have brought you here. Though if you wish to return we can easily place you on your aircraft. But it is vital you help us. No time will be lost for you if you do.”
    Upon hearing this plea amongst these mostly men, heroes Birdman called them, Alley decided he could this one time. A muscular young man on a huge lion of shining eyes with a dark left paw came up and in a voice that reverberates he also says for this critical juncture he can aid the world. They are also aware of Dr. Dark but so far their trans-temporal monitor can’t yet pinpoint where the critical juncture is for insertion. Something is interfering with it. That has never happened before.

    Panel Four

    “Alright, just this once” Alley begrudgingly says. “To fight evil!” A joyous cry of men and women’s voices along with the strange screams and bellows of alien animals seals the deal. (They had all come down from their seats in two tiered rows with space made for the larger animals to gather around and welcome in a new member.)

    Cute, really cute! I’d get even more of a kick out of it if I’d followed those old kids’ cartoons. So much potential in Shared Universes.

    Night-Gaunt’s Story
    I used to read the Avengers religiously, but I don’t know these other characters.
    The Benders’ Story
    The really funny thing is that until yesterday, we didn’t even know Dinny was there. He just suddenly popped up, with no recognition or greeting from Alley Oop or his friends. So typical of the Bender’s inconsistency.
    FEN’s story
    I’ll have to check in later to catch Fen’s double installment that he promised us late yesterday.

    Just checked, Amazon offers all the episodes for $60. Gonna have to get them.

    Ah Dinny where for art thou? As far as we know he was there all the time just out of picture and only Alley Oop knew it.

    Hanna-Barbera created them as animation characters first. Later Gold Key comics put them in comic book form.

    Good Morning Benders and all Who might Dinny get to
    help transport Lola and Hamid. From the portion of the map
    we see the map was drawn in english, Perhaps in prehistoric
    times there was a common language written and spoken,
    atlantean perhaps.

    Well I’m playing Alley as someone who has had access to learn to read. But here it is hard to know. And I assume Alley learned how to read maps too being around Wonmug etc. as I do.

    One thing I have learned is that Alley and Guz are the only people left on earth who actually look like cavemen. And Umpa may be the last cave woman. All the other women of Moo look like women from the 50’s and 60’s, except for Ooola (and Lola), who still look like flappers from the 20’s.

    @r0sc0e

    This was explained back in Hamlin’s day. One of the peculiarities of time travel was that it allowed Alley and others to always be able to speak and understand whatever language in whatever era and place they were sent to.

    @Night-Gaunt49

    Also back in Hamlin’s day, Alley used to read books that Wonmug had at his lab. Again, an anomaly of time travel.
