Lady Cynthia seems to represent the modern liberal. It is critical to correct the short comings of others and demand the use of public funds to help the disadvantaged. However, to sacrifice their own wealth or comfort to do what they think is the right thing, that is unthinkable.
That is part of the cause of the feeling of unrest we have in this country. It is not only that too many of our elected officials are more interested in helping out their special interest groups at the expense of the rest of the country, but they themselves have elevated themselves as a special interest group that the laws they pass do not apply to them except to benefit their own wealth, comfort, or egos.
This country needs statesmen that want to have a land of righteous people governed by righteous laws.
Our founding fathers did not envision a nation controlled every aspect of its citizen’s lives to enrich and pamper a select few. They had a revolution to separate tjhemselves from such a government. Instead they envisioned a nation that would allow people to do the right thing for each other out of their free will and the guidance of God as he lead godly, righteous men.

NO the modern liberal could be easily represented by the maid here. The Cons love the rich and their powers and their servants.

Just before the Great War a wave of Christian feeling washed England so that they were ready for righteous warfare.

The “guidance of God”? The biggest mass-murderer in history, the one who apparently enjoys ruling a world of pain, suffering and sorrow? That god? You can keep your god.

Ah, I see that you do not understand the holieness of God. Thru the blood of his Son, he had the debt paid for the rebellion to his ways, laws and character. By this blood we are made the righteousnes of Christ, not because we are good enough, but because Jesus paid the full debt of our rebellion, our sin. The only way that a man can stand before a righteous, holy God is to be sinless. The first time that we told the smallest lie, took something that did not belong to us, or even dwelt on doing something that he has forbidden, we have revealed our rebellious nature and deserved rebel’s reward. We all can either yield to him and accept the sacrifice that was paid for our sin or reject Him and the sacrifice and coninue on the road to destruction we are born on.
Usually, there is something in our lives that we want hold on to instead of sccepting Christ and His Sacrifice. It could be stealing, lying, or even our pride that we want to hold on to for all eternity and miss the blessing of God.
The big question is, "What little thing are you wanting to keep in your life and miss the free gift given by God.
