The only movies that have less plot, worse writing, worse morals, and even more impossible situations are chick flicks. Given the severe lack of quality, the things might as well be “written” by 12 year old girls who have just discovered boys.

Clownicane would be a dumb TV show.

    Now, a video game, maybe…

    People who generalize suck.
I don’t know what’s worse, the women who think men are dumb… or the idiotic males who keep providing them with examples!

You know, you’re right, and most are never that original anyway, for they always tell roughly the same story.

At least the action movies a guy would more typically see tend to have more variation in terms of plot.

Boglins and Moss Man are welcome in our house. While Clownican sounds prissy, I bet he is something like Chuckie, so he would be welcome, too.

Talk to Wendy Northcutt, author of the “Darwin Awards” series. :-)

Yeah, it’s NOTHING like Die Hard, because it’s IN THE WHITE HOUSE!
It’s NOTHING like Road Warrior, because EVERYBODY’S GOT BOATS!
It’s NOTHING like the last Jerry Bruckheimer movie, because IT’S GOT A DIFFERENT TITLE!

Women are crazy and men are stupid, but I’d rather watch Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler “meet cute” in the millionth retread of Sleepless In Seattle than watch another CGI and wire-work craptacular of property damage and body counts.

If you want to see well plotted books for boys 12 to 14, read the Doc Savage books. A bit cliched, and the attitudes are those of the ’30s and ’40s, but the action never stops, and the plots are anything except straightforward. Just remember not to try and judge them by adult standards, because they were clearly written with pubescent boys in mind.

Alright I’ll prove it! Some boys are brave and certain girls are frighten like dealing with spiders! Boys have good knowledge like grilling meats and jumping into action!

“Jumping into action” is just as often the result of stupidity as of knowledge.

As for grilling meats, it would be useful to see the actuarial tables for barbecue-related injuries and deaths (“Let’s just throw another splash of lighter fluid on this baby”)…

PS: Any movie that you can watch with a willing woman beside you is a good movie.

The Dark Knight and Mamma Mia! opened in theaters on the same day. I was looking forward to both, and I saw both opening weekend. Which did I choose to see Friday night rather than Saturday afternoon?

The one my girlfriend wanted to see. ;-)
