I just learned how to pronounce Xolotl from Tecpaocelotl Castillo, a YouTuber who said he has posted the correct pronunciation because he was so annoyed by Ted-ed person who continually pronounced it so badly.

Anyway, here’s my attempt to spell his pronunciation of Xolotl phonetically: shuhl-LAWT. The first syllable’s vowel sound is halfway between “oh” and “uh”, and that vowel sound blends right into the “L” that begins the final syllable, which pretty closely rhymes with “ought” while sort of leaning toward “oh”. The final “L” is silent. I hope. . . . I was clear. LOL
