There are various television shows and commercial ads that must have been filmed within the last year, since mask mandates widely went into effect. Yet, the actors do not wear masks. What gives? Do the producers purposely choose to ignore the reality of the pandemic, and choose to set a bad example in order to placacate anti-maskers?
On the other hand, it’s good to see TV advertisers that jump on the bandwagon and offer masks for sale. There are many of those, especially on television stations that show old reruns. But as sometimes is the case, those products usually offered seem not of the best quality. I suspect that the mask products might not be of the best quality, either. In some cases the masks seem rather flimsy (apparently thin cloth and dickie-type pull-ups) and make claims that border on pseudo-scientific, at lest to my mind.
Are there standards that such cloth masks have to meet in order rightfully claim effective protection against Covid? Do broadcast stations make sure those standards are adequately met by their advertisers?
