This more or less sums up the opinions of my more liberal friends. A feeling of vague confusion and awkwardness.

Me, I’m just upset that I didn’t get it. I brokered a hard won peace between myself and the spiders that always seem to get into my shower curtain. That’s got to be worth something!

Ah, one of my favourite cartoonists (but then I’m prejudiced). I did say I thought someone was pulling my leg when I first heard Obama had been awarded the peace prize. I have since read the committee’s reasoning behind the award and my scepticism has been mollified a tad.

Arafat, Peres and Rabin, to be exact. IMO the three were at least as deserving as Kissinger and Tho (so far the only recipient to refuse the prize).

Yes, too soon, but no worse than naming aircraft carriers and buildings for folks still alive, and doing damage. Even folks who do good, and we like, should have a little “test time” before history makes judgments.

True Dat ! but [insert great leader of personal preference] would still have been deserving of said prize even if awarded “a little bit early” as this clearly may be…
