Actually, it would be more accurate to say this was the Democrats in 2004. That was a bigger circus than this election, and they went with a boring moderate who never explained his positions and lost. 2008 was a gimme for the democrats- they could have run Kermit the Frog and the talking testicles of Idi Amin and still won. It was generally accepted the real race would be between Obama and Clinton, and that actually strengthened Obama’s positions during the actual election. Romney actually seems to be hurting from the scrutiny his own radical party members are putting him under, which will cost him the moderate vote if he gives in to them.
