Founders who were Federalists [conservatives] and Founders who were Anti-Federalists [liberals & libertarians] disagreed over whether the state[s] or the people were in charge of the government.
There is one thing about all of the Founders’ intentions that is not in question by anyone [sane] at any time:
Checks and balances of power
In America, no president – no legislature – no judge – nor any majority of citizens gets to wield power without the explicit consent of the others. Like it or not, that’s what it’s all about – and always has been.
The judges are doing their part to check Trump’s power grab, and the legislators elected in response to his power grab are doing their part. Soon it will be time for citizens to do their part. Mr. Trump is not the boss of us – no one is. United we stand, divided we fall.
• Presidents can make no laws
• Courts can make no laws
• Legislatures can make no permanent laws
• Citizens cannot have their rights denied, which includes choosing who represents them
