    the head usually comes as a single piece and a cosplaying furry has to remove it if he/she wants to engage in conversation.

    This is actually pretty accurate — it’s hard managing tails in fursuits. Except talking animals (like the dogs) are also called ‘furries’, and the costumes usually separate headpieces that cover the faces. Here’s an example ‘fursuiter’ to get an idea what the costumes look like:
