He might have better luck glazing peoples’ faces with fear if he did this and ran rings around them.

Glazed Squash Rings
Preheat oven to 375°F
Wash and cut crosswise, into 1/2-inch rings
2 acorn squash
Arrange in a single layer in a shallow baking pan. Add water to the depth of 1/4 inch. Cover with foil and steam in 375° oven for 10 minutes.
Combine in a saucepan
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/4 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon grated orange rind
2 tablespoons butter
Bring mixture to a boil and remove from heat. Drain the squash rings and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Pour the hot glaze over the rings and return to the oven.
Bake for 30 minutes longer, basting frequently, until the squash is tender.
Makes 4 to 6 servings.
