Ivy has been with me for just over a week now, and has settled in wonderfully. She seems to have taken to her change of surroundings, and me, like anyone who has taken in a pet could hope for. She’s discovered, and is using, the sleeping position by the bedroom window that Misty, (And several of the others) used. I cleaned it and put a new folded towel on the platform in the hope that she’d use it for sleeping, and she is :-D The platform is on the access route for her to get onto the bedroom window, and I was hoping she’d realise what it could be used for. She’s asleep on there now as I type this at 06:30 BST, having just had her breakfast and used TheBox!! ;-)
Ivy has also discovered that she’s allowed on the bed, and has joined me on there during the last two nights. She’s on the Small size of Medium for a cat, but, like all cats, seems to take up a Lot of space, even when curled up ;-) I’ve discovered that she has an endearing trait (One that might get old fairly quickly!). If you stop stroking/petting her when in bed, she will force her head underneath your hand so you can continue!! When I’m on my side, she will also headbutt me in my back as I think she wants to get underneath the covers (I’m not sure if she knows what she’d be letting herself in for!!).
One of my neighbours has bought her a new ‘Igloo’ bed as I realised the ones I had for Misty were either worn out and wouldn’t survive a couple of trips through the washing machine, or were too bad to attempt to clean (Misty was throwing up rather a lot in her last month). She hasn’t used the new bed yet, but it’s in position, and has a fresh folded towel inside it. I think it needs to vent off the smells from the manufacturing process, and that she just needs to get used to it. She has put her head inside it to take a look though, so that’s encouraging.
