He was a multiple convicted felon and was attacking the cop. Stop the fake racism.

So… A supporter of a repressive fascist regime and an ultra-violent, repressive terrorist organization now wants the government to play nice?

Not to put too fine a point on it, but Cure only has himself to blame. Cure turned violently rabid during the encounter, attacked the deputy by trying to break his neck and forced the deputy to shoot him. The deputy even tried striking Cure repeatedly with a baton to get him to release the deputy’s throat and that had no effect. It’s tragic that he was previously wrongfully convicted, but that does not excuse his decision to try and kill the deputy, nor did that make him any less violent and dangerous. That shooting was as justified as any shooting I’ve ever seen. Irrational opinions will disagree.

Sadly, there are “patriots” absolutely euphoric about this.

Guy went berserk when the cop put him under arrest (why? for a traffic violation?). An understandable reaction when you have just been released from false imprisonment.

I often wonder how many police officers are ex-military. I suspect a significant number are. It’s not that I think ex-soldiers are evil. It’s that their training is to shot to kill and that seems to be police training these days – shoot until the threat is down.

I also wonder how terrifying it must be to be a police officer these days. Imagine wondering if a traffic stop is going to be your last act in life. There are 300,000,000 guns in the US and not a stretch to wonder if the car you pulled over for speeding has a driver who is armed to the teeth. I’m told that the highway patrol trains their officers to touch a car they pull over, so that there will be finger prints as physical evidence should they be killed.

This is a complete misrepresentation of what happened. I watched the dash cam footage on YouTube. Cure was belligerent, non-compliant, and attacked and nearly overpowered the deputy. The deputy attempted non-lethal means of subduing Cure, first with a taser, then a baton. Had Cure simply complied with the officer’s commands, he would have lived.

There’s a reason the saying is “Comply, then complain.”

Weeding the bullies out the police department and putting in a psychological test for their replacements is the only way to stop this sort of thing. My brother in law was a cop in a small Texas town. He was a bully in high school to the point of exhibiting psychological issues in the stuff that he did, and he was able to turn that hobby into a profession by joining the local police department, where his activities didn’t even draw unfavorable attention. Our police should be carefully chosen, required to wear cameras, and any complaints should be reviewed by a citizen’s committee, elected by the citizens of the community. I can assure you he would have never been a cop, because he would never have applied for the job under those rules. I said he was evil, I didn’t say he was stupid.

This cartoon does not describe the situation as seen in the released video. From the video I would conclude that it was Mr. Cure’s fault. Even if the deputy could have handled the situation better.
