I’ve seen job postings that were pretty close to the PhD, 30 years experience and younger than 30. Not the low wage, though. Anybody with any sense at all would simply back away slowly given the wage and the whip. Though up until the pandemic I knew of recent college grads taking unpaid “internships” in desperation to get a job in their field.
I think that the enforced lay off for many gave them the opportunity to rethink what they were willing to put up with. And they’ll sell stuff on Etsy or go back and live with mom and dad before they’ll put up with quite so much nastiness… or even just feeling stuck in place… for a mere wage.
