Barack Obama: Sorry we can't pay your cancer-treatment bill. We're using your cancer treatment money to station 2,500 troops in Australia at an annual cost of $2.5 billion. Sorry, you're going to go bankrupt and lose your house. But we need that $2.5 billion a year to pay for 2,500 troops in Australia. It's to contain China or something. Sorry, poor homeless dude-love to help. Unfortunately, we're using your housing money to station 2,500 troops in Australia at an annual cost of $2.5 billion.

Totally Bush’s fault. Or Reagan’s fault. Or maybe Eisenhower’s. I have a hard time keeping up with the liberal blame machine…

Ask the troops whether they’d rather be stationed in Australia or Afghanistan. While there IS some infrastructure cost, it really doesn’t cost that much more in Australia than in the U.S.. In fact, considering “locality pay”, it may be cheaper than in the D.C. area!!

Has any President not funded the military? Is there a reason Australia can’t pay for their own military defense, why are we there? The alternative implication is that spending is a zero sum game, where if it’s spent on defense then there’s nothing to spend elsewhere. Maybe we should allocate a million dollars to every person living in America for their health care, as it’s been proven that health care is mandatory for all nations.

Don’t we have 10 carrier groups? How about we decomission one or two and use that money for Australia. Or better yet, revise our foreign policy to where we are not the international police and have allies do their share in their neck of the woods.

@OakRidgeBoy61: Ya think so? I think that “liberals” disagree with a lot of what Obama does. They would probably disagree with 98% of what anyof the current crop of repubs would do.

This is so excellent. Does anyone ever ask to what extent the CIA really runs the country? Or is it the military industrial complex? At any rate, it doesn’t seem to matter who’s president. We’re doomed to be warlike make the world safe for capitalism.
