Mundane Moments our pledge: really really really based on a true story... really! This week: The outdoor paradox. In a large American city not long ago, some guy looks outside and gauges the temperature. (Man: It was 40ish yesterday... no snow on the ground... a light jacket oughta do it.) Amazingly, his W-2 form arrives early in tax season. (Man: I can't believe I made that much last year... I was always broke! I oughta check my stubs, but I'm too lazy. They're probably right anyway. Damn. Then, on the way out of the elevator, our man gets intercepted by an annoying neighbor. (Woman: Did you hear about the new driveway?) (Man: No-what's about it? What's up?) (Woman: I don't know. I thought you might know Busy tonight?) (Man: Um, yeah.) But when he gets outside, it turns out to be colder than he originally thought. He's runing late, so does he go back up and get warmer clothes or risk hypothermia? (Man: Damn! It must be 30!) Worst of all: The longer he stalls, the later he gets! (Man: I really need my gloves and a scarf, but that'll cost me 5-10 minutes, but if I didn't I'll end up cold all day, but-) Next: To floss or not to floss?
