Man: In these tough times, my employees work harder for less pay. And now I'm expecting them to pay for increases in health care. But, hey, I love my employees. Especially with a side of coleslaw!
“the pythagoreans in greece taught the golden rule, spoke against slavery, welcomed women and invented the idea of a perfect heaven 500 years before st. paul”
first, paul wasn’t the chronicler of freedom for slaves and women
and are you sure you mean the “golden rule” and not the “golden mean”?
if you’re saying grecians spoke against slavery and women, invented the idea - i would call that absurd
as far as a “perfect heaven” is concerned, we don’t know how long humankind longed for it; nobody invented it; it’s not a theory or myth although it cannot be physically proven; the hard part is, when we die, the truth happens
i’m sure “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” has been a staple in social constructs for aeons. and as for slavery and women’s issues, it’s a personal/structural/natural/national/social dichotomy - as it has probably always been from the beginning of time - whether thousands or millions of years - some like it; some don’t
“indeed, the early christians plagiarized may of their ideas. christianity is a hegalien synthesis ot the thesis of judaic tradition and the anthithesis of green rationality. anyone who thinks christianity dripped fully formed and unique from heaven is simply ill-informed.”
how sad for you canuck. christians didn’t plagiarize, canuck. christ emphasized the simplest rule for righteousness- a rule that was thousands of years old - love god, love as you would be loved. it’s not some secular idealistic mesh, it’s not theory. there isn’t judaic tradition but judaic understanding. greek rationality - please elucidate - is also theory at best.
there is historical documentation of the christ, his trial, his execution and yes, his resurrection. it’s hard to swallow for the theory driven “intelligencia”, and boring for those who don’t want to search the bible for the truth.
spout all the theories you like, canuck, but remember it’s only theory, not history. what we - who love christ, our god and his spirit, with proof immutable - have in our bosoms and our brains is god’s love and perfect truth
