^ My taxes in Ontario are about the same as DrC’s, though I’d have to check to get the precise numbers. (The Federal tax rate, I assume, is identical.) And again, we don’t have to pay for health insurance on top of the taxes, since that’s included in the taxes. I also get some health benefits through employment – prescription drugs, dental care, massage therapy – these are not covered by the provincial insurance system. I believe that prescriptions for seniors are covered, but I’m not sure, and I’m still a few years away from finding out. Of course I’d like to keep more of my earnings, but frankly I don’t feel overtaxed for the services I receive.
