This is just lovely!
We were at the Sage* on Thursday (Mahler’s 3rd Symphony – not enough cowbells for my taste, but there you go), and I have to admit that an evening of birdsong would have been even lovelier, much cheaper (“cheeper”?) and we could have enjoyed it with a beverage. (It would have been very cold and wet, though – it was widdling down, and there was a heck of a wind from the North Sea – which is freezing even in summer.) There was the added delight (well, I thought so) that every time there was a pause of 2-3 minutes between movements, the audience took the opportunity to throat-clear, cough, blow there noses and deal with everything mucous-related that they had choked on for the proceeding half-hour! – Hilarious!)
*The Sage is a music venue in Gateshead, NE England – if you get the chance, GO. It’s lovely, every seat gives a good view of the performance and the auditory experience is superb!)
