When I was Socky’s age my grandmother had one of those and it had a clothespin-type metal clasp where its mouth would be so that it could “bite its tail” to stay in place around her neck. She hadn’t worn it for a long time so it became my play toy. Sometimes they’re mink, but I doubt hers was.
