Trains are better for the long haul. And even short haul, a delivery vehicle will usually travel a lot less distance than a bunch of family cars taking one person shopping then home again.
And did you see where a consortium of ocean freight companies are talking about a carbon usage tax? Things are happening. Good(-ish) things.

People need the earth far more than it needs them. The earth existed long before humans first stood upright, and will likely be around long after humans are little more than the artifacts of another extinct species the next dominant species discovers, wonders, and makes postulations about.
I’ve always thought the Amazon logo looks like a circumcised penis. It’s sticking it to us.

Not that I don’t get this cartoon’s point, nor am I an Amazon fan, but at least Amazon is working to lower its carbon footprint… one way is that they are starting to electrify their delivery truck fleet.
Next up….let’s talk about the water shortage that will lead to world-wide famine…..oh….no one wants to give up anything they consider basic amenities, in order to save the only world we have from becoming uninhabitable. So…. let’s just pretend to “talk the talk and walk the walk” with conventions and public forums that actually have no power to enforce their resolutions. Unless the populous changes their ideas of what is actually basic to life…there can be no chance of combating the climate crisis.
