the irony here is, I recently watched a repeated and seriously accurate PBS documentary that was done in 2017 (that I missed when it originally aired) about the REAL story of the Pilgrims and everything that transpired until they got over here and landed near Cape Cod.
Settled in a Wampanoag village where a pandemic had wiped out literally everyone to the point the skeletons and skulls were bleaching on the ground from the pandemic that had been loosened upon the Natives from a French fur trader ship a few miles up the coast years earlier. (apparently this pandemic killed over 70,000 natives up and down the coastal area’s. And where the Pilgrims finally decided “this is a good spot!” was where a whole village had died. The explanation by experts as to the attitude towards the Natives later was they considered themselves God’s chosen and seeing the bones and skulls just lying there indicated these weren’t even human beings but chattel and not worthy of much consideration let alone think the people were civilised and had their own cultures and religions and efficient ways of life that had worked for tens of thousands of years )
The real story of Thanksgiving is an absolute out and out lie. A joke and a lot of fluff and rewritten to save face at the time one of the founders who survived wrote down to look better when he was gone.
To see this story so well done with intelligence and research, and hearing and seeing original documents was a shock to me and I’m 68. I watched the whole thing. It was sobering. And this kind of thing should be put on regular television stations with few interruptions (it was over two hours) Oh well
We’ve been fed this crap for hundreds of years and deliberately misled. And now people insist on going home for Thanksgiving because it’s tradition?? never mind that Covid-19 might kill their grandparents or their older parents……. as a species we seem to be de-evolving. But be safe and have a good holiday best you can everyone.
