That “jury” of voters is a critical backup plan, but is no substitute for the important process of impeachment that is currently in progress.

And while I understand the sentiment of not wanting to overturn an “election” (which Republicans actually stole with Russian interference, Comey tipping the scale for Trump and massive voter suppression), the fact is that the crime that Trump is being impeached for is that he is TRYING TO ILLEGALLY RIG THE 2020 ELECTION by soliciting and offering bribes for ILLEGAL election aid from a foreign government.

Because it is the coming election that he is trying to sabotage, Trump MUST be removed from his position of being able to achieve his criminal electoral schemes.

We can’t wait for the 2020 election because THAT is the very thing Trump is trying to manipulate.

In any case, Democrats also note that, regarding overturning an election, vice-president Pence was simultaneously “elected” along with Trump, to an office the sole substantive duty of which is to take over — as the backup who was specifically also ELECTED alternative — if Trump cannot complete his term; Democrats further note that we can’t wait to replace Trump in the 2020 election when the high crime he is being charged with involves cheating to steal the 2020 election.

The GOP wishes that a rigged election could be substituted for due process.

Do not underestimate the ignorance of the American public. They voted for that beast in the White House once and it could happen again.

Impeachment was put in the constitution to protect the country between elections in the event that the president becomes too dangerous for the country as a whole. There has never been a president more dangerous to the very fabric of this country — its fiscal health, its environmental health, its international reputation as well as security. There has never before been a president for whom the law of the land is meaningless. That’s why there’s impeachment. However, VOTE so that those who support this lawlessness never hold office again.

If only but it has long been obvious that those that rule don’t trust those under them.

It would be better if every vote truly counted and the now-politicized EC was eliminated as it no longer functions correctly.

REMEMBER THE DRIVING RULE WHEN VOTING IN ANY ELECTION!!!

Choosing “D” means that you and the country will go FORWARD! Choosing “R” means that you and the country will go BACKWARD!

Ain’t enough to trust the voters.. the last time voters beat the trump by millions and there is no reason to assume the system won’t be rigged in trumps favor again. Giving the trump even a chance to run again is a bad gamble.

If the 99% vote, the 1% won’t matter.

To be honest… I don’t think that the impeachment will impact people’s votes. Those that support Trump will support him no matter what. Those that oppose him will oppose him no matter what.

Unless I am missing something, the impeachment jury is the House. It is then followed by removal which is decided by the Senate. The electorate is not involved in the process.

Agreed. Since the senate will not remove Trump from office, all of this is political theater. We’ll see what the reviews are next November.

Too much time for T to do too much [more] damage: ten months minimum, twelve, January to December 2020. Save us that year! Remove him and his whole coterie.

I’m pretty sure this is going to be the post-impeachment jury. And I seriously hope that this jury not only remembers, but has access to the polling places.
