Well done Dave!
Right there with you, duck.
Well, we do spend a lot of money on pork barrel projects or promises just to get elected…
Around here, the used book sales aren’t used to fund regular library operations but extras like a community garden in the parking area and special events. The books are donated by patrons with just a few of the books from the library, itself. When my mom died, I donated her entire library. They were very happy to see all those books, and Mom who loved her library books would have been very happy that they received them.
My mother was in line at our local library branch. An elderly woman in front of her was there to renew her book and pay her fine. My mom explained that you can renew over the phone or in line and not accrue late fees. The old woman said that she got so much from the library that she never renewed books, just paid the fines. It was her tiny way of giving back and saying thank you.
Excellent topic today, Dave! LA Unified is going to close libraries in schools. They already cut librarians to assistants, then let most of them go. Schools go without a way for children to explore books in a district that struggles to bring up test scores. What is wrong with this picture!
