Purple, pink and orange are the key tones employed for the “ofrendas” associated with the Day of the Dead, although there are many other colors depending on saints, geographical location, etc. I actually scanned some real “papel picado” to get this color (and the colors for the last four DOTD strips which you can see over at my blog – see link on right).

Well, I hope you were able to read it okay. I do a strip in this style every year and they are the colors of “papel picado”.
