Exactly! What was Luann supposed to do? Have a full conversation with this guy who she isn’t remotely interested in (with good reason)? No one is obligated to do that.
This isn’t hypocritical. Luann agreed to a date with Doug. He should have given her the courtesy of a proper goodbye. She doesn’t owe this creepy little gremlin anything. She’s not being rude here.
For a guy who’s such a conscientious host, he’s a real idiot with it comes to common courtesy. Not being in your phone on a date- especially a first date- is basic manners. And Gunther would have been the first one to call someone else out on it. Honestly, can this whole storyline die already? Bets is too good for him anyway.
I didn’t forget, but it didn’t happen, and she hasn’t expressed interest in him before (not anytime recently. I’m not back reading 3 decades of comic strips. Don’t @ me with something from 2004). They had a moment and it passed. Now he’s OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE! And she’s already butted in and made it awkward once. She can wait until the morning for a recap.
