   My husband has always called me Pumpkin, starting back when we first started dating. I never took it has referring to my weight, just a simple term of endearment that wasn’t overused by everybody else. Now that we have been married for 37 years and have grandkids, we call our oldest grand-daughter Pumpkin all the time…and she loves it as it is her special name. Get over it Ellie and take it as he meant it, a simple term of endearment.

   I know how she feels, used to get thise kind of sunburns all the time. But that was when I was young and stupid and before they figured out that the sun can cause cancer. Now I try to avoid those kind of burns by using my sunscreen religiously.

   I think it’s wonderful the way he’s reading it. It certainly is coming from the heart. And Lizzie is just istening so intently to every word…nice to see this sort of interaction betwen the two of them.

   Actually eggs shouldn’t be kept in the door, they should be kept in the lowest, coolest past of the refrigerator to keep them from spoiling.

   I remember my mother feeding a family of 9 on $20 a week. Of course, we also had our own meat, milk, fruit, and vegetables. She also sold cream, real cream, for a dollar a quart, raspberries for 35 cents a quart and corn on the cob for 50 cents a dozen. Gas prices during a gas war would be as low as 17 cents a gallon. Now those were the days…of course my dad worked for about $8000 a year too. One other thing…around here Walmart has the highest prices on milk, usually close to $4 a gallon whereas l can get it most anywhere else for $2 a gallon.

   I guess l’ve lucked out when it comes to doing laundry…hubby does it all. And it didn’t take long to teach him how to do it properly either. Of course, he’s retired and l’m still working so that makes a little difference.

    My oldest is now 33 years old and I had a stroller for her, one large enough even when she was 2, so they were around in 1977. I’m sure they were available in Canada also.

    mancocapac…everybody else’s kids are impossible but when you have your own it’s completely different. My husband swore up and down he didn’t want kids and wouldn’t take care of them if we had them. Well, we did have them and the look in his eyes when he first saw the oldest told me I had nothing to worry about. He took care of both of ours all the time when I was working and now gets upset if he isn’t asked to take care of the grandkids, all 6 of them. He is also as excited as I am about #7, due next month. You don’t know what you’re missing until you have your own.
