In the last 10 years, only 1 student (on average) per class has written anything with a pen an pencil. This is a writting class, were are the computers?
I graduated HS in the early 90s and though its on the news more now, its no different. My school had regular locker checks for contraband (alcohol, drugs, knifes, guns, etc). Our neighborhood had drive-by shootings and drug overdoses regularly. One of my classmates is still in jail for murdering his grandmother while in HS. School was cancelled regularly for bomb threats and attempted class shootings. The least offensive thing was watching kids get drunk in class. No, the times haven’t changed that much, we just hear about them more.
