   FWIW I believe that Charlie Brown is someone for whom belief in innate human goodness is not only an article of faith but probably one of the foundations of his personality therefore he has to keep trusting untrustworthy people.

   He can live no other way which is why he is always a chump.

   Back in the 1980s I worked in London and used to walk past a shop outside Euston station which claimed to be the ‘Biggest TV shop in Europe’ which made no sense to me because they didn’t sell TVs at all but women’s clothes to masculine looking females.
