Comics have a very long history in providing commentary on our culture, politics and just about anything else. Enjoy the insights and musings of cartoonists, especially Wiley Miller. These posted comments are another way for us to ponder the views and perspectives of others who enjoy the Non Sequitur comic strip.
Ah, the scape-goating/blaming and quick to judgment rears its ugly head. For me, it is time to turn off the political musings around the issue and listen to the medical/research experts as we figure out how to adjust our lives and economy. This has been painful for all, one way or another, and with some more deeply impacted than others.
A little light-hearted humor can help us get through this. If we can’t laugh at ourselves a little as we struggle through this novel coronavirus, then where does that leave us?
Ah, too many sayings to list on that topic. Here’s one: “I promised myself that I would not make the same mistakes of my mother. When I became a mom, I didn’t make her mistakes, I made my own.”
One of my sister’s chastized me for talking to myself. She got quite mad when I explainded that in answering myself, I could be guaranteed an intelligent conversation.
Unfortunately, there are ministers preaching to their flock that global warming isn’t caused by man, as well as other junk – no such thing as evolution to be a big one. Increasingly, I find it just too difficult to attend my sister’s church, because of the crap out of the minister’s mouth. The scarier part is what comes out of some of the members in response. It really has shaken me to my core. What used to be a positive uplifting experience has turned into something else. “Seek first to understand…”
I remember when the decision was made to have DST in my state. One of the justifictions was that it would be safer for children walkimg to school.
On a cross state bike ride a few years ago, I shocked a talkative man quiet when I dropped behind a truck to pee. No trees were in sight and mother nature was screaming for relief. If men can do it, why not the ladies?
Like my brother in law, delete any news or information that does not comport with one’s views or the views of one which is blindly followed. Sad.
Looks inviting. Nothing like living on the edge, er ledge.
Ah, the Lemming effect. Blindly following others creates the Lemming effect. The unwillingness to question the message and ignoring any other information not in absolute agreement with the leader’s message is an all too common side effect.
