Came here via spiral::bound (https://medium.com/spiralbound) on Medium. Joined because of Olivia Jaimes' "Nancy". Long time comics fan. Progression goes something like this: strip comics in the NY Daily News > Harvey comics > Mad magazine > Cracked > Underground comics (R. Crumb, etc) > National Lampoon > Eisner, Pekar, Spiegelman, etc. > Fatagraphics Titles > Perry Bible Fellowship and now spiral::bound on Medium.

Propaganda works by repeating falsehoods frequently and with conviction. It turns out that if people hear something enough times, they start to believe it is true.

I agree. There is such a thing as “progress”. OJ’s Fritzi is proof that we can make a better world, and that world can be enjoyable, fun, and funny.

What is Nancy doing on her phone? She doesn’t have enough friends to be texting. She doesn’t dance, so no Tik ToK. She doesn’t produce enough art to be killing it on Instagram. My guess is that she is an “Old Skool Soul Blogger” writing big old rants on LiveJournal, Medium, or some WordPress site that nobody looks at. I guess there is another possibility. She could be doing the 10,000 hours of gaming it takes to reach level 150 in Hades’ Star and leaving stupid comments on GoComics… LIKE ME.

Very “of the now”. I dig it.

    My all-time favorite PBF comic.

Is Fritzi working on a hyper-card stack?

Perhaps the cookies in the cookie jar are decoy cookies. My father used to use this strategy. They are the ones you are supposed to find and eat thinking that you are eating dad’s stash of cookies. Meanwhile, the high-quality cookies are hidden elsewhere. Fritzi should check her premium stash. Nancy didn’t bite on the off-brand hydrox. That doesn’t mean that her belly isn’t full of premium sweets.

I find her charming. Do you hate smart people?

I wasn’t going to complain about the loss of Garfield minus Garfield, but I am going to complain about the loss of the U.S. Acres and Garfield Minus Garfield announcement. I miss the delusional joy I gleaned from thinking someone had replied to, or liked, one of my comments, and the thrilling anticipation of pressing the “notifications” tab in the hamburger menu. I know, you folks think the disappointment and frustration that followed weren’t worth it, but my life is a continual disappointment… so is most comic reading… so I say, C’est la vie.
