   I’m around the age I think Frank and Nancy are (and have kids Luann’s age) and was thinking the exact same thing. I mean these are people my parents could’ve met and been excited about.

   Is Luann supposed to be set 15-20 years in the past? I mean the storyline and the joke behind it is cute and I know of all those groups but except for the Eagles, the Stones (due to longevity) and (simply because they were popular long after they broke up) the Beatles the others were mostly popular when I was a toddler and I imagine he’s thinking of when he was a teenager.

   My familiarity with the Monkees is the endless reruns of the long ended show they showed when I was still an early elementary school kid. I have a daughter Luann’s age and that means I was on the older end of becoming her father (like almost 40) when she was born, so I hate to say it but this sounds more like it would be an answer her grandfather would give in 2023.

   True and as per my other reply I would definitely say her folks are Gen X and her Gen Z, but these groups are ones the younger half of the Boomers would’ve idolized as teens far more than even “older half” Gen X’ers such as myself. I get that later groups’ names wouldn’t have fit the joke but I had to mention this sort-of flaw.

   I don’t think the story arc is over. Sundays they don’t usually do things that are part of the story arc.

   When was it ever mentioned that they are in California? I remember scenes where there was snow on the ground. I remember one fan site theorizing Pitt is near St. Louis but I don’t know the basis.

   I didn’t even think about the “dump Gunther” vs hot BF bit but yeah, now I’m wondering too!

   What actually caught my eye was the “woman of color” part. Clearly she is, but I remember the controversy when they first introduced her and a few days in it looked like she was drawn with a lighter shade of brown and eventually was drawn back in later strips the way she looks now.
