That’s the grade I might give the TEACHER. It’s obvious that Patty needs extra help. If the teacher can’t make or find the time, she should at least contact her parents (father in this case), and give them her observations and recommendations. A simple letter grade on a report card isn’t enough.
True, but his age is also a factor. We’re BORN with an instinct to survive and take care of ourselves. Compassion for others is learned a little later on. Still, a pretty good quip! ;-)

My mother was usually a strict disciplinarian, but in this case she knew, when I recounted how it happened, that I has scared the hell out of myself, and was so contrite and regretful that the point was made without any more punishment.
It’s truly hard to beat Nature’s awesome shows. Sometimes the action is fast & sudden, and sometimes it unfolds over a period of days, (or even seasons), but it’s always fascinating and moving.
Oy, indeed. But this time I can’t say a whole lot. I was older than Louis when I ignored orders and accidentally set fire to the kitchen curtains while I was all alone. I managed to get it put out, but I had to face the consequences.
