Amen. Very few go into teaching for the pay. however, with all the difficulties between districts, politics, unions, and parents, it becomes a giant game of whack a mole. And the teacher is the mole. The children and the good teachers suffer. That’s when teachers think, “I don’t get paid enough for this.” Also, many teachers spend an average of a month’s pay on their classrooms each year. But wait, they have off 12 weeks in the summer. Yeah, right. They go at least a week earlier and later than the kids, take expensive continuing Ed courses, and sometimes summer jobs. I never understood how teachers with families did it. It is a consuming vocation, not just a job.

Kids should feel secure. I was about 9 when we were on a road trip. It was night and a terrible storm came up. My dad had to pull over to wait for the rain to let up. We were on back country roads in Illinois. I remember clearly thinking we were safe because dad and mom were in charge. Years later I reminded my mom of that night. She told me she and my dad were so worried; could have been a tornado. They didn’t show us they were scared.

Thank you for explaining. And if I may take it a step further, the look on his face may indicate that eating it might be an option: sweet relief.

It has occurred to me that what, as teens, we used to lock in a book which we put under our pillow is now on Facebook or other social media for all the world to see. It was better hidden away. every thought does not need to be shared.

No, I think when it happens to me, it is telling me to back the heck away.

Similar here, although I surprised him on his 50th. He thought the surprise was family coming to town. Which was part A. Part B was the party later. Even had it at our house; he figured the extra cleaning was for his family. Misdirection is the key.

I love Calvin’s parents. Also, the nut does not fall far from the tree.

If you have never seen the version of “Something” during the tribute Concert For George, check it out on YouTube.

Just look on her FB page. People share stuff there that used to be under lock and key.
